Remi Okwechime, MD, Joins the Great Falls Hospital Inpatient Team

January 8, 2026 – The Great Falls Hospital is excited to welcome Remi Okwechime, MD, to the hospitalist and intensive care team. Dr. Okwechime is board-certified in internal medicine and has more than twenty years of experience.

She knew she wanted to pursue a path in medicine at an early age when her father suffered from a stroke.

“He couldn’t walk for a year and a half, and now, 30 years later, he’s driving. I wanted to be like the doctor who helped him get better,” she shared.

Dr. Okwechime began her educational journey and earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, followed by a Master of Public Health from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She continued her training with an Internal Medicine Residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She later completed a Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Okwechime has a passion for practicing medicine in underserved communities. Her unique approach to health care is fueled by her experience as a patient and by her understanding of how instrumental a compassionate provider can be in the healing process.

“I love being able to treat patients, and I love seeing them get discharged after hospitalization and recovery,” she shared.

When she is not working, Dr. Okwechime focuses on community outreach, like speaking at high schools, where she encourages students to pursue careers in the medical field. She also enjoys speaking on medical podcasts, teaching, and mentoring college-age young adults.

Dr. Okwechime looks forward to providing exceptional care to inpatients at Great Falls Hospital for two weeks each month. To learn more about her or the Great Falls Hospital, please visit gfclinic.com.
