The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by J. Patrick Barnes’s family after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.

2025 DAISY Award Winners & Nominees

Congratulations to our 2025 DAISY Award winners and nominees! We celebrated these exceptional caregivers with a memorable ceremony featuring cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and the support of friends, family, and colleagues.

Sarah received a nomination from a family member of one of her patients, who was deeply grateful for her compassionate care. Sarah’s calm, reassuring presence helped put everyone at ease as she ensured her patient received the care he needed. Her dedication and empathy made a meaningful difference for both the patient and his family throughout their cancer journey.

2024 DAISY Award Winners & Nominees

Congratulations to this Quarter’s Daisy Award Winners, Ann Martin from the Hospital and Jordyn Dougherty from the Surgery Center!

We celebrated these remarkable ladies in a joint ceremony! Jordyn received the DAISY Award for the first quarter, while Ann was honored for the second quarter. Both made lasting impressions on their patients, who nominated them for their exceptional care.

Our DAISY winners signed a banner that will be displayed in their respective units. To celebrate, we delivered cinnamon rolls to Jordyn’s team at the Surgery Center and Ann’s teams at the ER, Critical Care, and Inpatient units.

Ann was nominated for her attentiveness to her patients’ needs and compassionate care, making them feel valued throughout their hospital stay. Jordyn was recognized for her diligence in preparing her patients for discharge and her kindness and patience during their care.

We also congratulate all our DAISY Award nominees for their outstanding care!

Third Quarter 2023 DAISY Award Winner

Congratulations to this Quarter’s Daisy Award Winner Sarah Woloszyn from Oncology!

We honored our DAISY Award and nominees with cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and a memorable ceremony with friends, family, and fellow colleagues. Sarah was nominated by a family member of one of her patients who appreciated Sarah’s care. Sarah’s ability to put everyone at ease, making sure that her patient received the necessary treatments and helping her patient and his family through cancer treatment.

2022 DAISY Award Winners

3rd QUARTER WINNER:

Sarah White, RN (ICU)

The first winner of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® is Sarah White from the Inpatient Care Unit. Sarah was described as an “angel with wings undercover” in her nomination because of her positive attitude, demonstrated great skill in treatments, and being comforting during a patient’s time in recovery. Patients, families, and colleagues nominated nurses. The award recipient was chosen by a committee at Great Falls Clinic to receive The DAISY Award. Awards were given out during the ceremony attended by the Honoree’s colleagues, patients, family, and visitors. The honoree received a certificate commending her as an “Extraordinary Nurse.” The certificate reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” Honoree Sarah White RN also received a DAISY Award pin, and a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.

3rd QUARTER NOMINEES:

All the DAISY nominees for this quarter were Alisa Rodriquez RN, Colby Black RN, Casey Calbick LPN, Mark Barry LPN, Julie Haviland LPN, Kim Kynett RN, Karen Slotness RN, Patsy Kirkhart LPN, Kim Humerick LPN, Amy Shields RN, Kensie Butts RN, Breanna Reichelt RN, and Nicole Kilian RN. These nominees were awarded certificates and unique nominee DAISY pins. After the awards were given to the honoree and nominees, attendees were treated with cinnamon rolls which is an honored tradition of the DAISY Foundation. Celebrations continued at the break room in the hospital where winner Sarah works. All acute care team members received cinnamon rolls and the break room was decorated with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ® banner.

“We are proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in The DAISY Award program. Nurses go above and beyond every day. It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation provides a way for us to do that,” said Rachel Pahut, CNO.
