Because our specialists travel only once or twice a month, local appointment blocks fill up quickly. Speak to your local primary care doctor today to request an official referral to the Great Falls Clinic.

CONSULT YOUR LOCAL PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER
Most specialists require a referral from your primary care provider. During your next appointment, talk to your doctor about your symptoms.

SUBMIT THE REFERRAL REQUEST
Ask your primary care provider or local physician to send a referral directly to Great Falls Clinic. Referrals can be submitted by provider and specialty, or by clinic location and specialty. Once received, our centralized referral team will review your medical history, verify any insurance requirements, and help connect you with the most appropriate specialist for your care.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I have to pay extra because the specialist is traveling to me?

A: No. Your billing and copays for specialist visits are processed exactly the same as if you drove to our main campus in Great Falls. There are no additional “travel fees” or convenience premiums charged to the patient.

Q: Will my local insurance plan cover an outreach specialist?

A: Great Falls Clinic partners with most major insurance providers across Montana, including Medicare and Medicaid. Because coverage varies by plan and specialty, we recommend verifying network participation and benefits with your insurance carrier before your appointment. If you have questions about potential costs or would like an estimate, please contact our Billing Office at 406-454-2171 prior to scheduling.

Q: What if I need medical imaging (X-rays, MRIs) or blood work?

A: Whenever possible, our specialists coordinate testing through your local hospital or clinic so you can receive laboratory services and imaging close to home. If additional testing or treatment is needed that cannot be performed locally, our team will help coordinate the next steps at Great Falls Clinic or Great Falls Hospital. We can also discuss local support resources, including organizations such as the Legacy House, which may be able to assist with temporary lodging for eligible patients traveling for care.

Q: How do I handle follow-up questions after the doctor leaves my town?

A: Most ongoing care and routine follow-up will be managed through your local primary care provider, who works closely with our specialists when needed. If you have questions for your specialist, you can contact our team through the Patient Portal or by calling us directly. In the event of a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate emergency care.

With a background in healthcare leadership and social work, Jessie has held several leadership positions within the Great Falls Clinic, including Director of Outpatient Clinical Services overseeing oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, and ophthalmology programs. She is known for her commitment to improving patient access, fostering collaboration among care teams, and supporting the Clinic and Hospital’s commitment of delivering exceptional, patient-centered healthcare throughout Montana.

Today, Jessie continues to play a key role in strategic growth initiatives, helping Great Falls Clinic and Hospital expand specialty services and strengthen healthcare access for communities across the region.
