HELENA, MT – The Great Falls Clinic is excited to announce the opening of the new Great Falls Clinic Capital City Specialty Center in Helena, Montana. Located at 2231 N Montana Ave, Helena, MT 59601, the new specialty center will expand access to high-quality orthopedic and specialty care for patients and families throughout Central Montana.
The new Helena location will initially focus on orthopedic services and will be led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Peter D. Hanson, who brings more than 30 years of experience caring for patients across Helena and the surrounding communities. Fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Hanson offers specialized expertise in general orthopedics, treating a broad range of upper and lower extremity conditions.
“The opening of the Great Falls Clinic Capital City Specialty Center reflects our commitment to serving the Helena community with compassionate, personalized specialty care,” shares Jeremy Clark, Interim CEO of Great Falls Hospital and Clinic. “This new center strengthens our ability to meet patients where they are and support the long-term health of families across Central Montana. We’re proud to invest in this region and honored to become part of the community we now call home.”
In addition to orthopedic care, the practice will also welcome pulmonology provider Patrick Smith, FNP, who will offer specialty outreach services several days each month, further expanding access to specialty healthcare in the Helena area.
“We are excited to continue expanding specialty care access in Helena and throughout Central Montana,” shared Jessie Harris, Director of Clinical Outreach at Great Falls Clinic. “As we grow this location, we are actively evaluating additional services, and we welcome community feedback on the types of specialty care residents would like to see offered locally.”
Dr. Hanson joins the Great Falls Clinic after more than two decades of caring for patients throughout Helena and Central Montana. The son of Dr. Harris D. Hanson, founder of the Helena Orthopedic Clinic more than 60 years ago, Dr. Hanson continues a long-standing family legacy of serving the community through orthopedic medicine.
Dr. Hanson earned undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from Carroll College and the University of Notre Dame before completing his medical degree at the University of North Dakota. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio, followed by advanced fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
“Joining an established and respected organization like Great Falls Clinic is something I’m truly excited about,” shared Dr. Hanson. “I look forward to continuing the relationships I’ve built throughout the Helena community while welcoming new patients and providing patient-centered orthopedic care close to home.”
The Great Falls Clinic Capital City Specialty Center represents another important step in Great Falls Clinic’s continued commitment to expanding specialty care access throughout Montana.
